| Q: |
Under Hypnosis can I be made to do something against my will? |
| A: |
No. The movies notwithstanding, the subconscious mind acts like a guardian during the trance state. You would awaken.
|
| Q: |
What if my computer went down and I am in the trance state? |
| A: |
Either you would have a restful short nap or awaken quickly, depending on your psychological profile. If a fireman bangs on your door, you will awaken instantly, no matter what your profile.
|
| Q: |
Does age count in my ability to be hypnotized? |
| A: |
Yes it does. There is, however, a very large
range regarding age. Hypnotizability depends on focus.
Only exceptional children under 7 or 8 years old can be hypnotized.
The peak subject for hypnosis ranges from about 15 to 55. There
is a moderate loss from 55 to the early 70’s. After 75
the ability to be hypnotized will take a sharp drop. It is a
generous Bell curve and depends on individual personality traits.
|
| Q: |
Will I remember what went on during the trance state? |
| A: |
The answer is a definite maybe. In the laboratory with experimental hypnosis, volunteer subjects could be put into very deep trance states and most would have a memory loss. Hypnosis for anesthesia, for example, requires a deep trance state. For the hypnotherapy used in behavior modification, a deep trance state would be counterproductive. Clients have to remember the entire incident, in the behavioral hypnotherapy you and I will do together, for it to succeed.

| Q: |
How can stage hypnotists be successful in getting people to do funny and outlandish things? |
| A: |
Simply raising their hands to volunteer from the audience is a factor in extroverts. Being on stage is a secret wish of many people. Giving a good show is a subconscious wish in most volunteers. The stage hypnotist exploits these facts and can wean out people who are up there to show how they can’t be hypnotized.

| Q: |
Does hypnosis have anything to do with your IQ? |
| A: |
No. It has a lot to do with your personality profile. Creative people in the Arts are often high in hypnotizability. People who must control are often non-hypnotizable. Einstein, who played the violin and painted in oils, was a visionary and probably was highly hypnotizable.

| Q: |
Will there be a chance that I could stop smoking, for example, and then, months later, go back to it? |
| A: |
Yes. That is why I offer 10 days of free access to your therapy. I want you to do it over and over. I then strongly recommend self-hypnosis to be used as a guardian angel to support your effort to quit. It can be used for a lifetime with excellent results.
